Certified PROFINET over APL Products in Field Tests with End-Users
PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) is working with end-users to validate the full functionality of PROFINET over APL for explosion-proof applications in process automation. Field tests across pilot plants in the chemical industry confirm strong interoperability between products from different manufacturers.
The latest PROFINET Test Bundle now includes actuator testing, with the first certifications issued to Samson’s positioners. These milestones mark significant progress toward full-scale deployment of PROFINET over APL in process automation.
The collaboration between PI experts and end-users also focuses on extending field tests to include security, functional safety (PROFIsafe), and switch certification, ensuring PROFINET over APL meets the highest standards for safety, performance, and reliability in the process industry.
