Southern Seawater Joint Venture
On behalf of the E&I techs I would like to extend our appreciation to you and the management team for authorising the Profibus training for the techs.
Profibus for many is seen as a bit of a dark art, while this view is emphasized by the Wizards (E&I Techs) who control and nurture this dark art, the course has highlighted the utmost importance of the physical layer (cabling & terminations) to the robustness and error free operation of a Profibus network. The course dug quite deeply into the physical layer structure and the correct practices required for a bus system to operate at its optimum level, there are some things on site that will require modifications to ensure their operation continues well into the future.
The younger members of our team will and have found the course very interesting and of immense value going forward, not to mention the older Wizards learning some very handy spells when trying to fault find on the systems. All in all, the course was well received and of great value to us as individuals and also to the wider organisation, finding faults on Profibus networks in the future should be more efficient with the knowledge gained by this type of training.
Once again thanks for the training, I feel it was money well spent, as the plant ages we will likely see an increase in Profibus issues, this course has given us some sound knowledge of what to look for to try and prevent issues but to also rectify issues which could arise in the future.
